Today, November 14, holds quite a few classic hip hop birthdays as well as a few timeless releases. Daily $wagg wishes Joseph Simmons aka Rev Run from Run-D.MC. (The Dad in the show “Run’s House” for those of you not learned up on your ol’ skool) a happy 47th, a happy 36th to Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker (not a big fan of his music but he’s made some rap), a happy 29th to Boosie Bad Azz aka Lil’ Boosie, who will spend this B-Day in a cell at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, as well as former Shady Records artist, Obie Trice (The guy who says “Obie Trice, real name, no gimmicks” at the beginning of “Without Me” by Eminem for you Slim Shady fans), who turns 34. Today also marks the day 16 years ago The Pharacyde dropped Labcabincalifornia lead by their infamous single, “Runnin'”. Today also celebrates the release of The Black Album by Jay-Z 8 years ago. The album became his 6th album in a row to go #1 on the Billboards and his second highest selling album being certified 3x platinum. The album was also nominated for a Grammy and is 136th best selling album of any genre of the decade. Also, that same day, G-Unit dropped their debut album, Beg For Mercy. The album is certified 2x platinum and reached #2 on the Billboards. Lastly, 2 years ago today Young Money released their second single, “BedRock” which featured singer Lloyd. The song annoys me personally, but received heavy airplay and video play.
